Born in Medellin , Colombia (1956), Gustavo Jaramillo began painting very early in his youth.  He was inspired by the colorful surroundings of his native land of myth and mysticism. 

In 1980 Jaramillo moved to Miami where he lived for sixteen years to further pursue his career as a painter.  He graduated from the Miami College of Art with a degree in Fine Arts.

As a young artist, he had his first successful individual exhibition at Coral Gable's Galleria Fox.  In addition to his successful one-man show, he participated in many group exhibitions including the famous Hotel Ponce de Leon, Hotel Nautilus, and The Collection on 40th. Many private collectors from the US , Europe, South and Central America acquired his art works.

In 1997, Jaramillo moved to New York City where he currently resides.  Jaramillo has concentrated on refining his artistic _expression and accumulating a large body of artwork exclusively selling his work to private collectors. In New York , Jaramillo has had a one-man exhibition at Manhattan 's Matchbook Gallery and was part of a collective exhibition of over 65 artists at Pintores Hispano Americanos. 

Jay Milder, a painter, professor, and collector states, "Mr. Jaramillo is one of the most original animistic painters I have seen in years.  He has a true understanding of the abstract, pre-Euclidian language of the rhythmic geometry of nature.  His original color composition is remarkable, a true link, as was Duccio the pre-Renaissance painter, linking the East and the West by early organic cubism."

Jaramillo's paintings are individual dialogues with life, an interaction among the realms of the spiritual, psychological and physical, reflecting a deep understanding of life. His use of expressive images and bright colors is a celebration of life itself. His original work is highly evocative of Henry Matisse, Alexander Calder, and Jose Mijares.

Jamamillo's current body of work of over 3500 paintings is an expression of  25 years of consistent artistic exploration and dedication.
